Google Wars:The Empire Strikes Back!

Following Google’s threats to China in January, the giant has finally come to a decision regarding their stance within the country. As of Tuesday, China’s censored google.cn was pulled, instead redirecting traffic to their Hong Kong website google.com.hk where they operate under different laws.

Our monthly update on the state of the UK economy. Over the last few months the housing market recovery has slowed slightly and consumer spending has been volatile. However, investment intentions picked up and there was a slight improvement in export growth.

As of April 6th 2010, the Information Commissioners Office will have the power to charge fines of up to £500,000 to any business or organisation that is responsible for a breach in the Data Protection Act 1998.

Spanish police have revealed that they have arrested three men responsible for one of the world's biggest networks of virus-infected computers. With nearly 13 million computers infected in 190 countries, it's very surprising that these 'masterminds' did not have advanced hacking skills and yet were able to inflict a world of damage.

Should you Switchfrom Internet Explorer

For the last year or so Microsoft has been fighting claims from Europe that bundling Internet Explorer with Windows is anti-competitive. The EU argued that, because Windows has the most common operating system, it was unfair that Microsoft force all those users to use IE without first informing them of their options. The resolution? Offer a ballot box in the latest security update to inform Windows users of the alternatives available to them. Should users take the opportunity to run from IE given the last few months of high profile vulnerabilities? Or is there more to the incidents that have been overlooked?
