Breachof Data Protection Act

A survey by The British Standards Instituion (BSI) has revealed that almost one in five small and medium-sized businesses have breached the Data Protection Act (DPA) at least once.

Conducted in over 500 small and medium sized-businesses the survey also revealed that 65% of companies provide no training about data protection to their staff and half of the companies surveyed admitted their business does not have anybody specifically responsible for data protection.

This 'bury your head in the sand' approach will be the end of many. I wonder if its just a case of not knowing where to start or whether some just like taking risks. The reality is that there is an increasing trend towards mobile working and with that data protection has become a real issue. There is currently a massive gap - are you doing your best to fill it?
