SUPPORTHow do I know which PC software I am using?

The following guide shows you how to identify which software you are using as part of the Backup Direct PC backup service. The screenshots used in this guide are based on a Windows Vista Environment. The experience of using an alternative Windows PC operating system will be similar.

To identify which software and version you are using you will need to access the program's “About box” which details information about the installation on your computer.

  • Your backup program will need to be running to do this. If it is not already running then select it from the Start Menu. (An example is shown in the screenshot below)

  • When the program is running you should see one of the following icons in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. On your computer you should see one (not both) of the following icons.

  • Irrespective of which you see, you need to right click on the icon which applies to you.
  • You will then see one of the following menus:

  • You then need to click either About or About Backup Direct Professional/PC or equivalent.

  • If you see the following then you are using the Attix5 Desktop and Laptop edition (DL). Notice the version is also given, in this case Version 5 (V5)

  • If you see the following then you are using the Connected Backup technology. Notice that the version is listed, in this case 8.4.0 (an alternative might be 8.2)

  • Use this process to determine which technology and version of our products you are using. You should then look for the most appropriate section according to your technology.
