Access to Data and Data Confidentiality
Data storage areas are physically secure and accessible only to named staff of Backup Direct™.

All client data held by Backup Direct™ is stored in compressed and encrypted form. Backup Direct™ and its employees do not possess the ability to decrypt this data.

Staff of Backup Direct™ are expressly forbidden to open any directories or folders containing encrypted client data.

Encryption is carried out using a military grade 128-bit algorithm.

Data undergoing transfer between the client and Backup Direct™ secure servers are at all times compressed and encrypted and are at all times transferred using a proprietary transfer protocol for increased resistance to "packet sniffing".

Indemnity
The chances of client data being lost by Backup Direct™ are, as a result of their independently co-located secure servers, effectively non-existent. Nevertheless, the company has Professional Indemnity Insurance cover to the amount of £1 million in any one claim.

Clients are at liberty at any time to restore, or recover, their data from the system.
