This tutorial will cover how to reinstall the Livevault service on your server. This process should be used in the event of rebuilding an Operating System, or buying a new machine etc.
You will require the installer you used during the initial setup, if you do not have this please see our installation tutorial or contact the Service Team.
If you are using Windows Server 2008 it will be necessary to run the installer in Administrator mode. This is due to a known issue specific to Server 2008 - other Operating systems will be unaffected.
- Right click on the installer icon
- Click on Run as administrator
- You may see a box warning that the installer is attempting to make changes to your computer. You should always check that the source of the warning is the program that you are running or expecting to see.
- In this case we can see that the warning has come from LiveVault Backup which is what we clicked on the desktop, it is therefore safe to proceed.
- Click Yes to permit the installer to access your computer
- Click Next to proceed
- You will need to read and understand the agreement for installing the agent before proceeding
- Once you have are ready to proceed click to give your agreement
- Click Next to proceed
- Click Next to proceed
- Click Install to proceed
- Click Configure to proceed
- You will then need to click in the username field and enter your username which you used previously
- Click in the password field and enter the custom password which you created in the registration process
- Click on Configuration
- It is worth performing a connection test at this point in order to ensure that your login and internet settings are correct
- To do this click Test
- Upon succesful connection click OK to dismiss this notification
- You should not need to change the rest of the settings unless your connection test was unsuccessful.
- If this is the case then please contact our support team for assistance
- Click OK to exit the window
- Click Next to proceed
- At this point you can see three options which the installer can perform. In this case we are attempting to reinstall a service which has already been setup
- We therefore need to click on the Reprovision option
- Then select the system you wish to reprovision
- Click Next
- At this point you will need to enter the encryption key associated with the machine you are attempting to reprovision.
- This key will have been created during your registration process. If you have forgotten your key please contact our support team.
- Click to enter your key
- Click Next
- Upon succesful verification of your account and encryption key you will see this configuration complete notification.
- Click Finish
- NB: At this point the installation requires a restart. This will close all applications running on your server and perform a full restart of the operating system. This is required for correct function of the Livevault backup service, however does not have to be performed immediately.
- Click OK in order to proceed with the reboot
- Once you have reinstalled the Livevault agent and your system has rebooted it is best to validate that you server has been reconnected to the web portal. We will now demonstrate how to check this.
- Click and open an internet browser (such as Internet explorer)
- Click in the address bar to enter the web portal address
- Once you have typed the address in exactly as seen here click to navigate to the page
- Click to enter your login name which was provided in your registration email
- Click to enter your custom password which you will have created during the registration process
- Click here to login
- Click on the computer name to view more information
- Notice that the computer is listed as Connected. This means that the reinstallation has been succesful and you can now continue backing up and restoring as normal
