FAQ Free Trial - 15 days

How do I download and use the free trial?

Downloading and installing Backup Direct™ is a straight forward process. Please follow the following steps:

  1. You may trial either our Data 500, Data 4G or System 10G plans. The main difference between them is one of quantity of data that can be backed up - either 500MB, 4GB or 10GB. Additionally, the System 10G option performs an automatic scan of your computer to find data to be backed up and it also backs up your system files.
  2. Follow the simple instructions on the web site to complete contact details and agree to the End User License Agreement. Once the download begins, a window will open asking if you want to save the file. Choose YES and select a place to store the file. Remember this location!
  3. When the download is complete, you must run the setup program. Close all your open applications and then Select the "Run..." option from the Start Button (located in the bottom left of your screen). When you select this option, a window will appear. Select the browse button and find the BDSetup.exe program that you saved in the previous step. Select this and click OK until the setup program runs. Alternatively, if you remember where you saved the setup program e.g. you Desktop, then simply double click on its icon.
  4. Once the setup program has finished running, it will ask if you want to run the Backup Direct™ program. Select YES to run Backup Direct™ for the first time. This will start the registration wizard.
  5. Fill out the various forms that the registration wizard supplies. Once you have completed these steps, Backup Direct™ will be installed and running.

Do I need to enter credit card information when downloading the free trial?

The Backup Direct™ free trial does not require you to enter credit card information. The account setup form does ask for contact information. This information is kept strictly confidential and is not sold or released to any third party. It is used if Backup Direct™ needs to contact you regarding your backup service.

Is the free trial version of Backup Direct™ the same as what I would purchase?

Yes. The free trial is identical to the program you would purchase. The "Network" plans are not available as free trials and available only as paid-for plans; using one of the three other trial plans should give you a sufficient indication of how the software works. Connecting via dialup via AOL, CompuServe, and similar ISP connections

If you will be connecting to us via ISPs who provide their own dialler instead of using the standard Windows dialler, it will be necessary to open your Internet connection before running our software. You will not be able to use scheduled backups that run automatically, but all other features are unaffected.

I am happy with my free trial and want to subscribe to a monthly service plan. How can I do this?
