The iPhoneis hot technology

I am a massive fan of the iPhone.  A big pat on the back for Apple because I , like others, have once again been sold down the river by their marketing department. 

There is something about the product that just oozes ‘cool’.

But I recently came across quite a disturbing story about the iPhone which, although hasn’t put me off them in the slightest, still highlights the unpredictability of the technology we have all become so obsessed with.

Apparently there have been a number of reported cases of ‘exploding iPhones’.  Yes that’s right, iPhones that combust into flames. This is a slightly disconcerting thought – especially given the amount of love some people I know have for this possession.  But hey, at least their tears might put out the fire.

The reality is that this isn’t particularly uncommon for most battery powered technology.  There have been many cases of laptops, desktops and Xbox’s spontaneously setting fire as their batteries overheat.

I think the lesson here is quite clear – always carry a fire extinguisher, oh and remember to backup your data ;-)
